Plans to sell off England's forests just don't add up - PrivateEyeNews
'There is evidence' that occasional  sales of woodland by the Forestry Commission result in the timber, planted at the taxpayers expense, is chopped down, sold and then replanted using funds from the English Woodland Grant Scheme. A recent example (according to Private Eye) was of a piece of woodland being sold for £60.000 and the new owner immediately granted assistance totalling £55,000.
