Farmland bird populations continue to decline

A report just released from DEFRA shows that the overall population of 19 species of birds that rely on farmland have declined to their lowest levels for 40 years - it notes a steep decline during 2008 - 2009.  The RSPB believes that the environmental stewardship subsidy scheme can't be working properly - read more here :-  http://www.rspb.org.uk/news/details.asp?id=tcm:9-257401
